Youths want more heart, less formatting

Josh Dean, 34, volunteers weekly with the Spring Branch chapter of Young Life, an organization that reaches out to youth of all denominations. He’s watched his “kids” return to their individual congregation with the same passion they carried to the Young Life meeting.

12 pastors, 1 deacon to be lauded during worship
service June 6

Twelve Southwest Texas pastors and one deacon will be honored June 6 at 9 a.m. during a worship service inside Exhibit Hall B of Corpus Christi’s American Bank Center. The service is part of the Annual Conference session, which extends from June 4-7.
Pastors to be honored include:
The Rev. William Conrad Archer, 67. Archer began his career in the North Texas Conference and became an associate pastor in the Texas Conference in 1973. In 1996, he moved to First UMC, Bishop, to become the church’s pastor. In 1998, Archer was appointed to Ganado/Louise/Oakman, and in 2001, he moved to First UMC, Sonora. He became an associate pastor at First UMC, Boerne, in 2004.

3 preachers to speak during annual meeting

Three preachers are to address worship services during next month’s Southwest Texas Annual Conference session in Corpus Christi.
The Rev. David Edgar of San Angelo is to speak during the June 4 memorial service that opens the four-day meeting. That 7 p.m. gathering in Selena Auditorium at Corpus Christi’s American Bank Center remembers clergy members and spouses who have died during the past 12 months.
